CHAPTER 5:
LESLIE KONG PRODUCTIONS

1970: THE BEST OF THE WAILERS ALBUM

Recorded at Dynamic Studio from 29th April until 19th May 1970.
Whereas before all jamaican recordings were made for 7-inch single releases, this recording session was held to release the longplay album „The Best Of The Wailers“, Jamaica, Beverley´s BLP 001, the very first album by The Wailers, and the very first album in reggae at all. All longplay albums of earlier recordings are collections of singles. Because Leslie Kong died short after its release on August 9th 1970 this album was only sold for a short time. Beverley´s Records were located 135 b Orange Street, Kingston, JA, W.I.

I was told the track would run a bit longer on 7-inch compared to LP. Can it be that the LP has the track running 2,19 or 2,21 as on JAD and Universal and that the 7-inch has the track running 2,25 as on Trojan? Or is the difference more significant? I tend to think the LPs runs 2,19 and the 7-inches run 2,25.
