Part 9 – Videos
BOB MARLEY
OFFICIAL
LIVE! (VHS)
Recorded Live at The Rainbow, London, UK, June 4th, 1977
I was told this VHS / DVD would include the show of June 4th 1977 at the Rainbow, while three unreleased shows appearing in the trader scene would include the shows from June 1st, 2nd and 3rd 1977. To be confirmed.
Shown in movie theatres in UK in 1977 supporting other main movies. This happened while Bob lived in London in 1977. So it seems The Wailers were that hot these days that they had their album in the charts and their movie in the theatres. Probably that was managed by The Wailers on their own expenses. During these days musicians invested into the relatonship to their audience.

Note:
By lucky chance I came to know about the story of this video.
In 1979 the UMass-Boston Film School was given the permission to record this live show. They did it with three cameras. At that time there were plans to use the video later but nothing happened. So the video became forgotten.
In 1986 a student found the video in the library of the university. He used the three-camera shoot to learn about the procedure to edit such. The master edited VHS tape found its way to the home of this student. And became forgotten again.
In 2001 the man who shared the story met this student and so came to know about this video. He was allowed to make a copy VHS to VHS. Then with the help of a man called Uncle Dee he transfered the VHS to DVD. So far a man called vertiklman shared the story.
Until 2006 this DVD was only in the hands of very few people.
From this one original DVD source now we have two versions: One with a counter and titles (Source 2) and another without titles and counter (source 3).
With this story in mind it seems this source 1 with the complete introduction speech and the after concert interview and the show as taken from one camera is taken from the original source, one of three camers shoots recorded, without the editing made in 1986.
